I will get straight back to you with details. Stock is divided between the two bases but you will see a comprehensive selection of latest work. Landscape and figurative and a new abstract are all on offer! No pressure to purchase but impact, size, depth of colour etc can only be seen in situ. Instagram posts could be of canvases 20cm or 100cm, it’s not clear, so make it a day out and come and visit!

Easter 2022

It’s been a while since contacting with you on my blog! Sorry.

Next week 21st April ‘ Incognito ‘ kicks off again . Supplying nursing hours for families with children requiring special needs. It is a wonderful charity which has won awards for the simplicity of producing postcard art all at €65 . Secret is you don’t know who the artist is whether famous or not! I am painting away and quite busy which is great, I have a good few new works which can be seen at my home gallery in Dublin. To keep everything fresh and new I don’t put a lot up on my website. If you are searching for a size/subject matter just e mail via contact form in this website and I will get back to you by return.

I am experimenting with new techniques etc which is very important, ….I deliberately try a subject or technique which will probably be scrapped but if you only paint what you are comfortable with nothing progresses..successes often develop from ‘mistakes’.

Im coming out of a spell of shingles ..(wouldn’t wish etc) the amount of ‘viruses’ are heightened at the moment but hey I can still paint! It was good to return to my studio in Cork as I felt ‘stuck for inspo in Dublin. A change of scene can often trigger a good run of inspiration and I was on a roll!!

I’m working on a series of 50cm x 50cm ‘Visage ‘ love doing these,… increased interest in ‘faces’ at the moment, …but at least there is enquiries and sales across all the genres.

if you are undecided what size to choose I can help with suggesting different combinations from small to large. Dublin based? I can bring a selection to see in situ in your own home . No pressure!

January 2022

Learning to continue selling during COVID is challenging , painting is not. Painting without distractions is always good! This year has started positively with sales and new canvases in various stages of completion. I am going to answer a few queries I frequently get:………I don’t do commissions…and this is why……spontaneity is key to a successful painting for me; otherwise I spend my time second guessing the customers requests and it becomes laboured. You see it, You buy it!

I am artist, administrator, sales person …I sell directly from my home in Dublin and at art fairs. It is a relaxed no pressure situation. Maybe you see nothing you like, maybe you want to view in your own home…no problem, I am hugely indecisive so I sympathise!

Overseas; At the moment I am only selling from Dublin. If you would like to purchase please be aware that delivery is initiated from your end. Brexit has caused issues too. I’m frequently asked to ship etc all around the world…for now its not possible , sorry.

I love what I do and push myself to experiment and create a new effect or new approach to a well known subject. Drawing is key…best pictures start off with a strong footprint, and then I remove detail to hopefully leave an impression of a subject…Hopefully the viewer can then interpret it in their own way and it becomes personal.

I hope 2022 brings all good things and maybe a deeper understanding of what matters in life!

Art Source RDS Dublin 2021

I will be at Art Source Dublin Stand J118 from Friday 12th November until Sunday 14th up to 6pm. I look forward to meeting up with old and new customers for the first Art Show since 2019.

I have a most comprehensive selection of figurative , still life and landscape Art. Also a selection of art cards in packs of 5 for €10.

Preview evening from 5pm - 9pm is on Thursday 11th November.

2021 February

Wishing all of my Newsletter recipients a promising and productive New Year. It goes without saying that we didn’t think we would be in this position in 2021 but the light is at the end of the tunnel…..

Last year was a challenge to show art for all artists, online communication and viewing works online means that scale and colour can be compromised. I like to think outside the box and when we are forced to rethink how we market, it’s a good challenge. Despite that I was so pleased with all the effort you took to correspond via email, videos etc and purchase my art. From 20cm to 105cm we managed to arrange sales and collections…..by the 24th December I’m delighted to say that there were happy customers and a very happy artist!

I thought we would definitely be back to art shows in 2021…..now, I’m not so sure so I’ll have to see how we can get around this.

Please let me know if you would like to see more images of still life, figurative or landscapes, I am always open to suggestions. If you want more details on a piece of art I can send a video which gives a much better indication of size and particularly colour. It’s hard to replicate subtlety and depth of colour , particularly on large landscapes. I sell and represent myself and all works are one offs. I am only interested in producing the highest standard I can, not in churning out repeats and so not everything is on the website. For various reasons I want to protect originality and uniqueness ….

If you are near Ballsbridge , hopefully if restrictions allow, art can be collected or viewed at a distance! If you have a query regarding paintings please let me know .. subject, size, budget and any further info you’d like. Makes life a lot easier for me and I hold stock of every genre in most sizes.

Can’t believe it’s December…… I had said I would do a new blog and newsletter at the beginning of November so much for that!

This time last year art shows, Art Source in the RDS and Edinburgh Art Fair, were all done and dusted……..

I thought I’d talk about technique and ideas incorporated in my art…. Ideas sometimes pop into my mind… I compose ideas in my head before I start a new canvas.. observing anything and everything over the years leads to this process. Negative space most important.. that is where the figures or objects are positioned on the canvas and what ‘shape’ the space around them takes on.. balance, size, and position are all important. It becomes instinctive over the years, and makes life a lot easier!

I hope my art leaves a space for interpretation from the viewer, for example if I paint one of my faces in the visage range, I hope it reminds the observer of someone personal to them. To say it is personal to me isn’t much use to you! Of course I hope to paint generic features that resonate with everyone.

I aim to give an impression of a person or place , a hazy deconstructed version of a landscape, bowl, or people. If I want an exact reproduction I would use photography….muted colours are part of this process.

Visits for viewing and collecting reserved art 🖼 are hopefully operational again. Masks, distancing and hand hygiene all in place!

Autumn musings…

Such a busy few weeks since back from Cork. Delighted house visits are going so well within Dublin and we are adhering to all covid restrictions. I think everyone has been decorating and updating their homes during lockdown and now they are ready to decorate the walls! Never a better time to make a visit to my home gallery , I have been painting non stop this year in Cork and Dublin, so you can have a comprehensive view of all subjects : landscape, still life, figurative etc on offer.

Showing and selling from home has been a success, easy parking and near the RDS where pre covid shows took place. Every bit of my walls are covered in art … love showing in a relaxed and easy atmosphere, coffee on offer too! Customers enjoy meeting the artist too and hearing about influences , technique etc.

There is no substitute for viewing art in the flesh, photos do not give true colours or scale … I’ve had a few requests from customers who have never seen my art except in photos and want to purchase .. small ones are easy to reproduce accurately but largest ones : no!
You cannot purchase my art from any other source…. I release a limited supply of each subject each year and when they are gone….I’ve kept prices static this year so there has never been a better time to purchase. When you buy my art you can rest assured I will only release it for sale when I am 100% sure that it’s the best I can do. If something is not up to my standard it’s painted over or rejected!…. I am the task master here…

Back from Cork busy unpacking and sorting everything. Just discovered that enquiries from my contact page on my website have ended up in a seldom used spread sheet folder! .. this has been since May so I have been contacting everyone effected by E mail today. Art is everwhere and space is small but you get the gist….I will be holding open days starting October but the door is always open for a time that suits you in a relaxed and easy way to view all the art. I enjoy meeting and talking with you about what might work in different settings… Decisions are sometimes hard to make! See you soon…

In these changing times we have all had to reinvent how we sell and market our goods.. including artists. Offering art but making the entry level particularly affordable without diminishing the quality on offer. With that in mind I am offering a limited collection of original 20cm x 20cm canvases, ideal to treat yourself or as a special gift . I’ve always liked the concept of the 20cm square canvas: as much thought and detail goes into the smallest as the largest. They can be a statement piece positioned over a table beside a lamp or in a group of two, three or four. They can be purchased online and posted within Ireland including N. April 2020 update

Life is not unduly different for me. I work from home or my gallery in West Cork. .. I usually work from 20cm squared up to 100cm . I have never produced so many new artworks , I love what I do so this is enjoyment for me. Not every day is successful but it’s part of the process .. ‘turning up’ on good and bad days.

RDS Art Source November 15th - 17th.

Getting ready again for Art Source 2019. Dates above and preview evening on the 14th . I am showing the fruits of a years work at this and Edinburgh Art Fair starting the following Thursday 21st.

Not all new work is shown on my website. I like to show a good few works for the first time at the event. let me know whether you need tickets either for the preview evening which also allows admission on the other days as well or for general attendance from Friday to Sunday.
