August / September 2023 Dublin

Heading back to Dublin shortly with new work ready to view from 4th September.

Always a good time if you are searching for art to see the full stock on offer…..click contact on welcome page and send your enquiry.

Remember I can do a house visit with chosen artwork for you to view in your own home or arrange a time to suit to visit my home gallery.

If you are looking for a unique piece of art for your home to enjoy for years to come you won’t be disappointed. I produce a select limited amount of landscapes, still life and figurative each year…as the ad says when they are gone they’re gone!

In answer to whether I do commissions the answer is no…..I feel I am second guessing the interpretation of what the client requires and spontaneity is out the window. I compose so many of my paintings in my head, particularly in west Cork driving through the Healy pass and imagining all the shades of green and how to mix them; the way the coarse grass grows and the colours involved ; the organic mix of colours in the hedgerows and the way the mist falls over the mountains and blurs the landscape. I aim to reproduce that as the best I can. The easiest effects are often the hardest along with knowing when the painting is finished.

Composing figures and faces I apply the same principle of using only the essential marks to create the impression of movement or facial features.

Less is more and I want to leave space for the viewer to imprint their memories on the subject chosen.

My main aim is hoping that the new owner of the canvas will love it as much as I enjoyed painting it…then my job is done!
